Importance of exercise in our lives

We are well settled into the new year now and this is about the time when a lot of people leave their New Year’s resolutions behind and forget about their promise to themselves to eat cleaner and get fit! Before you leave that phase of your life behind, I'm going to explain the importance and the need for physical activity in your daily lifestyle. With a new batch of our Metafit classes with Niall O’Callaghan just around the corner, there’s still time to keep those promises and get fit for 2018!

The importance of fitness today cannot be stressed enough, especially with the ongoing rise of technology - people are forced to sit at nearly everything they are doing - working, eating, socialising etc and this is only getting worse.

Exercise is defined as any movement that makes your muscles work and requires your body to burn calories. Exercise can consist of many different activities and each person will have a different liking to each - swimming, cycling, running, walking ... whatever suits your fancy.

Exercise has benefits that will assist you now and in your later life. Some of the benefits include...

Weight loss - exercise helps burn calories

1. It makes you feel happier. Partaking in exercise for at least an hour a day increases endorphins released in the brain. Endorphins trigger a positive feeling in the body which in turn makes you happy. And if you think about it how many of you reading this have come home after exercising and regretted it? Very little of you I’m guessing.

2. Weight loss – Exercise helps burning calories. Whether it’s cardio or weightlifting, exercising can definitely assist you in losing weight.

3. Strong muscles & bones – Regular exercise helps builds your bone density. This is particularly important for women as osteoporosis is a common bone disease in elderly women.

4. Energy levels increased – Regular exercise can increase your energy levels immensely. It can enhance the blood flow carrying oxygen in the body which will immediately increase your energy levels.

Create a better, healthy and overall longer life

The bottom line is - Exercise needs to be made a priority in people’s lives. Join the many people and start today in creating a better, healthy and overall longer life for yourself. It is vital to keep yourself in the best condition now to benefit you in the future.
